CYCLE SWITZERLAND IN A LONG WEEKEND

Pressed for time but desperate to escape the city for some smooth tarmac, fresh alpine air and mountainous views? It is possible to see the best of Swiss cycling and tackle some of the stages featured in the Pro Tours over a long weekend.

Choose how many days to take off work, what type and style of accommodation you want and then leave the rest up to Haut Velo!

By only taking one and a half days off work, you will get three full days of world class Swiss cycling.

All of our packages are customisable but at a minimum include:

  • Three days of fully supported and guided riding on the best roads the area has to offer
  • Three fantastic nights’ accommodation – chosen by you – see Accommodation and Food for more details
  • Cycle friendly breakfasts every morning (not included in self-catered accommodation)
  • Local support to organise bike hire, cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars and non-cycling activities (if you have the time and energy…)

The weekend is carefully customised and designed to get you riding some of the best and most scenic routes in Switzerland. We take into account your cycling experience, fitness and the weather forecast. With our expert guides leading you, all you have to do is focus on the riding and the breath-taking views. The three main days will be full days out on the bikes, with enough stops for tasty food, local treats and good coffee.

  • Day 1 – Thursday. Arrive, settle in to your chosen accommodation, set up your bikes, a short spin to acclimatise, eat, drink and rest before the first full day.
  • Day 2 – Friday. Tour de France Summit finish loop – 100km, 2500m climbing
  • Day 3 – Saturday. Col de Sanetch loop – 120km, 2,600m climbing – See here for some inspiration
  • Day 4 – Sunday. Local lumps and bumps – your time of departure will decide upon how many lumps and bumps are completed… from 25km at 400m to 100km and 2000m… you choose!
Due to the possible variations in group size, style of accommodation, inclusive meals and length of stay, all of our holidays are costed individually when you enquire. The below are given as accurate price examples.

  • Self-catered accommodation – Starting from 550chf per person – Based on the above three-night stay, with a group size of six sharing a homely, modern and well equipped chalet.
  • Bed & Breakfast – Starting from 650chf per person – Based on the above three-night stay, with a group size of six, sharing comfortable twin or double rooms, with a hearty breakfast included each day. Evening dining options are available.
  • Luxurious fully catered – Starting from 1400chf per person – Based on the above three-night stay with a group size of six, sharing luxurious double or twin rooms in one of Verbiers stunning boutique hotels. TOUR DE STATION AND LOOK MARMOTTE GRANDFONDO VALAIS

Look Marmotte Grandfondo Valais and Tour de Station are new cyclosportives in 2018, joining the already very popular and successful Look Grandfondo’s in the Alps and Pyrenees. The new Valais version has ambitions of becoming the “reference of Swiss Grandfondo’s”.

With different routes to suit all cycling levels, from the leisurely 50km, to the very challenging Tour de Station at 220km and 7,400m± of climbing. The parcours crosses through the enchanting countryside of Valais, its mountainous grapevines, picturesque scenery, authentic villages and internationally renowned ski stations.

From small, intimate, comfortable and homely self-catered chalets, through to the grand, luxurious and self-indulgent accommodation Verbier has to offer.  With everything from powerful showers, well equipped kitchens and comfortable beds with crisp linen to indoor pools, alfresco dining, Cedar hot tubs, cinema rooms and relaxing Spas.

Whether you bring your own bike or hire from one of our partners, all of our accommodation has secure bike storage, with space and tools to tinker and repair your bikes.

We ride so we can eat… We love good food and cycling allows us to eat more than most people… especially cake!  Food, nutrition and hydration are a critical part of any sport, particularly cycling.

All of our chefs use fresh, local and seasonal produce to create wholesome, nutritional, energy giving and tasty food, none of which will not be in short supply!  We provide an international menu which includes the best of Swiss cuisine, all prepared whilst you are out exploring.

Our catered package options include:

Lunch – Depending on the day’s itinerary and your preferences, lunchtimes can be catered by means of packed lunches or picnics.  

Cycling snacks – We can also supply your cycling snacks, plenty enough to keep you going but not too much to slow you down!  

Post-ride nibbles – To keep moral up on the longer rides, it’s always important to remember that, on your return to the chalet, a delicious homemade cake or local assiette with fresh bread will be waiting for you, accompanied by a “suitable” drink!  

Evening meals – Our customised approach to your holiday allows you to choose from eating a hearty, nutritious and filling two course meal through to a sumptuous and fine dining experience prepared by Michelin starred experienced chefs.

NON CYCLING ACTIVITIES

If you are a none riding partner or are looking for a rest from the lycra, then there are many other activities in and around Verbier which we are happy to organise for you or guide you on.

We can organise other sports and excursions such as mountain biking, climbing, paragliding, canyoning, hiking, Via Ferrata and rafting.   Verbier boasts an 18-hole golf course and an 18-hole pitch and putt. The sports centre has lots to offer including tennis, squash, an indoor and outdoor pool, Ice-rink, outdoor volleyball courts and wellness centre.

If you are looking for something more sedate we can organise visits to the cinema, brewery tours with beer tasting, vineyard tours, shopping, markets, museums, galleries, farm visits, geocaching, horse riding, photography courses, the world famous local spa’s, massages and therapies.
